Fontaine la Mère: more than just a farmhouse

Fontaine la Mère will be your ideal Bed and Breakfast residence for the discovery of Burgundy. The location is guinely perfect and very well accessible. Not only is the farmhouse located near the N81 (main road between Autun and Nevers), the D61 leading straight into the Morvan can be reached at walking distance.

At the farmyard of nearly 1,5 acres you'll find 3 buildings arround a typical French innercourt: the former barn and coach house, the former breadoven and the main house. The barn and former coach house have been transformed into a big guest house with 5 guest rooms, a diversion room and an adjoining garden. In a lovely corner on the groundsite we also created room for a mini-campsite with 5 camp pitches in total. While designing and decorating both the interior and exterior we kept in mind a proper balance between privacy and company.   

At Fontaine la Mère we find pleasure in making your stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible. The guesthouse and the guestrooms are spacious and very comfortable. Various gardens and a charming terrace enable you to enjoy the French country life. Cold drinks, wine, coffee or thee are can be ordered during the day - just let us know. At the farmyard as well as at near surroundings you will find the right atmosphere and more than sufficient room for diversion. We have a tennis table, a pond, a playground and various games for the children. 

Breakfast
Naturally your day starts with a typical French breakfast which is included when you stay with us in one of our guest rooms. From 8.30h till 9.30h we serve our guests coffee or thee, orange juice, yoghurt, croissants, baguettes (French bread), homemade jam and fresh eggs.  

Activities: active and gastronomic
Are you fond of cycling, hiking or fishing or do you appreciate a nice dish with good French wine? You have just found the right place for your stay in Burgundy. 

For our sporting guests we rent bikes (men and women) and have several hikingtours; for the angler we arrange the necessary fishing permits beforehand. At your request we prepare lunchboxes to take with you.  
We also like to invite you for one of our gastronomic activities and challenge you to experience our winetasting event combined with a diner of 5 courses. You can also choose a Burgundian dinner of 4 courses with 4 matching local wines or our wine workshop. In this workshop we informally discuss the various wine areas of Burgundy. The above mentioned activities can be booked seperately (see pricelist) but also within an arrangement.

Most of the year the guestrooms at Fontaine la Mère are available for our guests. We also have the facilities to receive groups (untill 14 people). A separate meeting room can be used for various purposes. Besides our planned activities we are open to your requests and suggestions. Contact us and we will come back to you with a solution.
